When Do You Need Raw Material Testing and Analysis?

A new supplier says the material is equivalent

The product name and specification may look familiar, but that does not mean the chemistry is the same. We can compare the candidate material with your approved reference and identify differences in the base material, additives, fillers, solvents or impurity profile.

A new batch behaves differently in production

Perhaps the color, odor, viscosity, curing or processing behavior has changed. We compare the abnormal batch with a known-good batch to find chemical differences that may deserve further attention.

The paperwork looks right, but the material does not

A certificate of analysis usually covers selected specification items. It may not show a change in additive package, raw material source, trace contamination or undeclared component. Independent chemical analysis helps you look beyond the paperwork.

What Can Raw Material Testing Tell You?

How We Use Raw Material Analysis to Find Supplier and Batch Differences

1. Compare the chemical fingerprints

We first look for broad differences between the submitted samples. This can show whether the materials belong to the same chemical family and whether the main composition appears consistent.

2. Identify what changed

If the fingerprints do not match, we use targeted chemical analysis to investigate the difference. The target may be an organic additive, solvent, polymer, filler, metal element, ionic species, degradation product or contaminant.

3. Focus on what matters to your decision

Not every difference is important. We combine the analytical results with the material application, supplier history and production symptoms to highlight the findings that deserve action or further validation.
